Here’s some photos I took of that snapper hatchling I saw at Central Park. You can see the video I took of it swimming here. The quality of the photos and videos aren’t so great since I took them with the camera on my cellphone.

It’s shell was covered with thick algae. It was hard, but I was able to resist picking it up. Of course I know better than to take a snapper home, given how large they get and the fact that I have no room for it. I do wonder if the Turtle Pond counts as “the wild”. Sure, they aren’t taken care of by humans and the turtles there are subject to the forces of nature, but the pond is filled mostly with abandoned and “rescued” turtles. What do you think?
